Being a hero may not be what it’s cracked up to be. At least that’s the lesson learned in the 2010 smash-hit Kick-Ass based on the 2008 comic of the same name. Kick-Ass follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor Johnson), a normal New York teenager, as he tries his hand at vigilantism, with some discouraging results. His journey puts him in the path of other heroes (Nicholas Cage & Chloe Grace Moretz), and villains (Mark Strong & Christopher Mintz-Plasse), but things definitely don’t go the way he planned. Directed by Matthew Vaughn with the comic written by Mark Millar, Kick-Ass was a tour de force when it hit theaters and bookshelves…but does it hold up?
