Daniel Craig Exits 'SGT. ROCK' Movie, Jeremy Allen Allen Emerges as Potential Replacement

The Hollywood Reports states Daniel Craig has dropped out of starring in Luca Guadagnino's 'SGT. ROCK' movie for DC, delaying his debut in the DC Comics universe.

Craig's departure from the project, which is based on the DC Comics character created by Robert Kanagihner and Joe Kubert, has sparked a search for a new lead. Jeremy Allen White is among the actors being considered for the role.

The 'SGT. ROCK' movie, which has a script from screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, was expected to reunite Craig with Guadagnino, who directed him in the film 'Queer'. However, Craig's exit has thrown the project's casting into flux.

The reasons for Craig's departure are unclear, with some sources citing scheduling conflicts with his wife, actress Rachel Weise, while others suggest that he lost interest in the project after 'Queer' underperformed at the box office and during awards season.

Despite Craig's exit, DC is pushing forward with the project, with plans to start filming in the UK this summer. The studio has declined to comment on the casting shake-up.

'SGT. ROCK' has been in development for several years, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis previously attached to star. The character, a tough-as-nails World War II soldier, has been a staple of DC Comics since his debut in 1959.
